Internet, e-mail, & Web Access
- I can help you with e-mail and Internet Access - DSL, Cable, or even Dialup (I are not an Internet Service Provider, but we can work with your ISP to make sure everything works for you.)
- I can help you obtain a domain name (e.g. www.yourbusiness.com) or build a web site.
Hardware Additions and Upgrades
- I can improve the performance of your computer.
- I can increase capacity or add a new capability to your computer.
- I can protect your computer against power outages
- I can protect your work against crashes.
Often we can do these things with a simple upgrade. On the other
hand, upgrading is sometimes a mistake. I will help you avoid wasting money on upgrade mistakes.
Sometimes it is best to replace the whole computer with a new one
from a reliable vendor. This is especially true because of the huge
improvements in costs and capabilities of new computers. It is all too
easy to "over upgrade" an old computer, which leaves you with a
too-expensive under-performer, when you could have had a brand new
computer, with a new warranty. And kept the old one for other uses, or donated it.
- It often makes sense to combine installing a new hard disk with a fresh install of your operating system.

Hardware Installs and Peripheral Installs
Have you bought a new piece of hardware and are not sure how to best
install it? Or have installed it and it doesn't perform to your satisfaction?
I can install and configure almost any new hardware in your PC. For example,
| Video Card |
Sound Card |
Network Card |
| DVD-ROM or CD-ROM Read/Writer |
Television Card |
Monitor |
| Hard Disk |
RAID System |
Memory |
| CPU |
Motherboard |
Web Camera |
| Power Supply |
Printer |
Scanner |
| Digital Camera |
External Storage |
Sound System |
When installing hardware, there are often complications involving
conflicts of resources, cabling and interface options, and driver
software. I have the experience and expertise to get the performance you paid for.
Complex Software Installs
If you have trouble installing certain software applications, we can help.

Fixing Frustrations / Annoyances
Computers can be the most frustrating devices ever invented. Things
that should be easy often don't work, or are very difficult. Advertised
features sometimes fall short. Some of these problems are inherent in
the software and hardware, but we can solve most frustrations and
annoyances. At the very least, we can suggest an alternative.
Checkups and Tuneups
Often an unreliable or poorly performing computer can be improved without any new hardware.
I recommend the following service every six months for all computers that get average use.
- Run diagnostics and make simple software fixes.
- Test the memory.
- Defragment and check the disk.
- Check and upgrade the drivers for internal devices and peripherals. (Vendors frequently issue new drivers.)
- Check the motherboard BIOS.
If your computer has been running Windows for a few years, has had
many pieces of software or hardware installed, upgraded, removed, etc., it may need a major cleanup.
- Reorganize the disk structure..
- Save your data data.
- Wipe the disk clean, and reinstall the operating system and software and data.
- This is a perfect time to install a new and larger hard disk. You can keep the old
one as a backup, which can improve the safety of your data.
